The Tumaini Children’s Project – HERA Mission Joint Fundraiser

Be among the first to raise a glass in TD Place Stadium, Ottawa’s new urban sports and entertainment destination. On October 15th, The Tumaini Children’s Project (TCP) and HERA Mission are joining forces to raise funds benefiting groups of orphaned children in Kenya.

This year we are adding some really interesting elements to this already unique event including:

  • Insider’s Football Strategy Talk with the Ottawa REDBLACKS quarterback, Henry Burris, and coach, Rick Campbell
  • Tours of the TD Place Stadium and Landsdowne Park
  • Ottawa REDBLACKS players and cheer squad on hand
  • One of the best silent auctions in Ottawa
  • A Kenyan market place, African food and entertainment

This year we have two ticket options: $200.00 ticket paired with an Ottawa REDBLACKS Club Seat game scheduled for Friday October 24th against the Montreal Alouettes OR a 75.00 ticket for the event.

Where The Proceeds Will Go

Kenyan youth belonging to the TCP program are proof of one’s ability to overcome challenges and prosper. Our boys and girls, some of whom are HIV positive, bring enthusiasm and dedication to their studies and as a result, qualify for national and provincially ranked high schools. TCP students consistently show they can succeed in the face of adversity, successfully leveraging the opportunities awarded to them by our generous sponsors and donors.

Our partners in Kenya visit the school to check on the children, and we verify their performance at the end of each semester. We also work with the school themselves to ensure that they are upholding proper standards of education and care for the children.

Here in Ottawa, our Canadian youth demonstrate their ability to impact the lives of TCP’s Kenyan children. Our organization is committed to operating at zero percent overhead. With most of our volunteers being students and recent graduates, we benefit from their innovation, energy, and creativity. We take this energy to Ottawa classrooms, connecting local students with our TCP kids in collaborative programs geared toward enriching their learning experiences.
